Try Before You Buy. Keep What They Love.

Why spend $300 on a fly rod your kid holds twice? Rent it first, use it for real, and buy out only the gear that earns a permanent spot in the truck.

Try it in real life.

Your kid actually uses the gear — on the water, on the trail, on the course. Not in a store.

Love it? Make it theirs.

Buy out any piece at a member discount. No markup, no hassle.

Not the right fit? No problem.

We swap it out and send what's next. You never get stuck with gear that doesn't work.

Our Story

Why We Built This

HeyBuddy Outdoors started in our garage-literally. After buying, storing, and eventually donating gear our kids outgrew in months, we realized there had to be a better way. We're parents of three who believe the best childhood memories happen outside, not in front of screens, and that too many families are fighting devices, clutter, and cost at the exact same time.

So we built HeyBuddy Outdoors as a premium kids outdoor gear library - not a subscription box. We help families try the right gear, in the right size, at the right moment, without filling the garage with stuff they'll outgrow by next season.

Every piece we send out is gear we'd feel good using with our own kids. We're starting in Atlanta because this is home, and because we think more families deserve an easier way to choose campouts, creek walks, range days, fishing trips, and backyard adventures over one more screen.

Not yet — we're starting in Atlanta because it's home, and because we want to do it right before we expand. If you're not in Atlanta, jump on the waitlist and tell us where you are. We're tracking demand by market and will let you know when we're headed your way.

We love when that happens. Let us know and we’ll work out a purchase option at a member discount. The whole point is helping them find gear they’re obsessed with.

Kids are kids — normal wear and tear is totally covered. If something takes serious damage, we’ll figure it out together case by case. No surprise fees. Just treat the gear like you’d treat a friend’s.

All our gear is safety-checked, properly sized, and age-appropriate. That said, adventure means a little risk — that’s part of the fun. We’re happy to help with gear fit and activity readiness. For anything activity-specific, we’d point you to a local guide or instructor.

That’s exactly what the HeyBuddy Compass is for! It matches your family to the right spots based on ages and interests. For Atlanta-area families, we love the Chattahoochee, Lake Lanier, and North Georgia mountain streams.
